I'm interested in the dark aspects of life. I am not sure why, but my curiosity peaks on the "shadow side" of things. This may be because I spent years looking in the mirror and rising above my own weaknesses. Humans gravitate toward strong people. People who's spirits are strong most likely endured plenty of challenges. All of their pain, suffering and loss lead them, their people or society to higher places. Changes in consciousness take time. It does not happen overnight. One collective example is European history. It took decades of burning witches and Protestants to realize that religious persecution is wrong. If that pain and suffering never occurred, would Europe have changed? Every culture, country, society and individual must ascend from their own challenges in order to raise humanity's (and its rights) consciousness. Look at how hippies have thrived as a result of tough times. The same is true on the individual level. We must endure hardships in order to ascend to the next stage in life. We become wiser. Our spirits become stronger. And we become more cognizant of our choices in life. The toughest part of life is accepting the bad with the good and lead ourselves toward the light.
