I've reached a certain point in my spiritual journey where my views on the world have shifted. Things that I've taken for granted before, or used to bash, no longer serve a purpose in my life.
No matter how politically charged or upset one gets about our government, we must consider that many innocent or warrior souls sign up to do our dirty work. They do it in the name of patriotism because they want to serve, protect and conserve the freedom of our country. They give up their homes, they move away from their family and they know the possible risk for PTSD. So when we wake up and drink a latte or have wine with our friends while snapping selfies with our iPhones, somewhere across the world, someone is putting their soul on the line. Gratitude is the basic, fundamental root of spirituality, and on a weekend like this, it's time express some thanks to the people who served for our freedom. Happy Memorial Day weekend.
