"Cleanliness is next to godliness."
Quoted by John Wesley in 1778, this "ancient" quote rings true still to this day. I've studied various forms of spirituality - Yoga/Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity - all of which prize cleanliness of the mind, body and soul.
Being clean is a sign of spiritual purity or goodness, and indicates one's moral compass guides decision making. A moral compass is the integration of dignity, well-being and integrity. Understand that heaven and hell exists within us, and we face decisions everyday to reach for the light or the dark. So if you're looking to get out of your ruts of low self-esteem, addictive behaviors or destructive heart-aches, you need to let your moral compass guide you to the light. People love the darkness, or "sin," because it's fun, exciting and full of emotional highs. If you want better things and people to come into your life, raise your vibration and let your moral compass do it's work.
