Everyday we wake up with the ability to make a myriad of choices. We can choose to help ourselves. We can choose to manipulate people. We can choose to do something, ignore something or make something of ourselves or live in fear.

Maturity is when you pick yourself up by your bootstraps and start making changes to those behavioral loops and actually do something about your situation. Every experience we endure is a piece of the soul's ascension process. And every experience - good or bad - is part of our path to maturity.

One time, my friends and I are having coffee after work. My best friend Ayen told us that her boss is giving her a hard time and she really wants to quit work. She said that her boss always criticizes every little thing she is doing even up to the extent of putting the paper clip on the wrong side of their paper documents. She said he wasn't like that before. I asked her if her boss is going through something. And she told me that he just had a divorce. I told her, that's it! That's what made him change. I told her that she needs to be mature enough to be sensitive to what others are going through. Maturity does not just come with age. It's how you analyze what's going on around you and don't react irrationally, but with compassion.
